Deštné v Orlických horách

Church of St. Mary Magdalene

The mechanical drawer positive was built by Franz Finger in 1878 for 135 gold pieces. The organist Franz Finger came from Kunčiny Ves (in some sources he is mentioned as an organist from Kačerov) and worked at the turn of the 19th and 20th century mainly in the area of the Eagle Mountains. He was mainly engaged in repairs, of which the oldest written record refers to a repair in Slavoňov in 1873 and the last record of his activity is from 1917 in Liberec. The positive in Deštné is the only documented independent work of Franz Finger and is listed in the list of movable monuments.

The instrument was originally built for the Chapel of Our Lady in Dříša in the Orlické Mountains and during the reconstruction of the chapel after 1995 it was deposited in the parish church, where it still stands today.

The instrument is housed in a simple organ case with grey-blue marbling and gilded carvings. The foot control for the air system was originally located on the side of the pedal, and later the pedal was moved to a position from which the organist can operate it while playing and does not need a calkant. The mechanical tract is distributed by means of a beam distribution without a shaft plate. The desk is preserved in its original condition, including the inverted key covers and manubrium. In 2017 the instrument was restored by Dalibor Michek from Studének u Jihlavy.
