The two-manual mechanical instrument was built by Amand Hanisch in 1874. The A. Hanisch’s organ follows the traditional drawer system, but in terms of its layout, it already subscribes to the Romantic style. When constructing the layout, Hanisch often indulged in skewed conical ranks such as the Gemshorn 8′, Viola di Gamba 8′ or Violetta 4′. He was also able to intonate these registers masterfully. The special character of the plenum of his instruments is due in particular to the four-row third mixture, which repeats “wildly” on c, c1 and c2, thus creating an unusually mysterious character of the plenum.
In addition to the aforementioned sound form, the instrument in Přepychy is also characterised by a rarely preserved set of three wedge bellows, placed in the church attic and operated by means of rods from the church choir. The design of the pedal clutch with its own valve chamber, operated by a flap on the air duct, is also unusual.
In the past the instrument was often repaired and changed in layout: 1920 – Václav Poláček from Rychnov nad Kněžnou (repair and new prospectus), 1933 – Karel Ryglewič from Hradec Králové (new fan and floating bellows), 1944 – V. Poláček (re-tuning), 1954 – Organa Kutná Hora (repair and conservation), 1971 – Jaroslav Hubený from Protivín (repair), 1982 – Bohumil Žloutek from Zásada (new Flute 8′), 1997 – Jan Karel from Sázava (repair).
In 2017, Ivan Bok from Krnov completed the complete restoration of the instrument for CZK 1,216,000. The surface treatment of the organ cases was done by Miroslav Zvonař for CZK 200,000. The instrument is often used for concert purposes and thus contributes to the enrichment of the cultural life of the village and the surrounding area. Many thanks to the mayor Zdeňka Seidelová, who financially secured the restoration of the organ.
Thanks to her tireless activity, it has been possible to raise considerable funds from a regional grant, the municipal budget, the parish, sponsors, the adoption of pipes and benefit concerts.
