Kvasiny

The chateau chapel of St. Anthony of Padua

The Baroque chateau in Kvasiny was built at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1928 František Karel Janeček bought the estate and founded the JAWA automobile brand near the chateau. After World War II, the chateau was nationalized and the chapel was used as a straw warehouse for the local Social Welfare Institute. After 1990, the chateau was returned to the Janečka family and the current owner is the granddaughter of F. K. Janečka – Sonia Klímová, who was instrumental, among other things, in the repair of the rare local organ.
The single-manual mechanical instrument was built by Jiří Španěl in 1850. The instrument is unusually incorporated into the liturgical space and is rarely preserved in its original state. The manual part of the organ is placed on the left side of the offering table, and on the right side an empty organ case with dummy prospectus pipes is symmetrically placed. The playing table, together with the bellows, is built into the pedestal of the functional part of the organ. Until 2008, the air pumping was controlled only mechanically, by means of a hand lever to the right of the keyboard. At present, the air is pumped by means of a fan. The pedal register is humorously hidden behind the altarpiece.
The organ was repaired in 2008 by Jan Karel from Sázava for CZK 135,000. In addition to mechanical repairs and general adjustment and tuning, an older electric fan from the Swiss company Meidinger was supplied.
