Martínkovice

Church of St. George and St. Martin

The single-manual mechanical instrument was built by Franz Süssmuth between 1769 and 1771 for 330 gold pieces. The instrument underwent several modifications and layout changes. In 1845, Franz Žďárský rebuilt the playing table so that the organist was seated facing the altar. During this reconstruction, several registers were also changed.
Another major repair was carried out in 1881 by Franz Finger from Kunčiny Ves. The last major repair was carried out in 1921 by the local organist Ferdinand Hausdorf. After the departure of the Sudeten Germans, the life here became quiet, the instrument gradually deteriorated and could not be played.
The restoration of the organ in Martínkovice was carried out by organ builders Joef Poukar from Česká Třebová and Jan Eliáš from Křinice between 2000 and 2010 with great financial support from the Regional Authority, which gradually contributed around CZK 1 million. Part of the remaining financial costs were borne by the municipality of Martínkovice (234,900 CZK) with a number of private donors including the organist and initiator of the whole event Ing. Vladimír Hrubý.
The organ in Martínkovice has a very interesting layout and is unusually rich, especially in the basic accompanying registers. There are a total of three eight-stop and four four-stop ranks, which is quite unusual for a single-manual Baroque organ. There are also fine sinuous registers – the Salicional and Gemshorn, or the Nassata register, a fine fifth series which adds an interesting sonic dimension to the instrument.
