Church of All Saints

No written records of the builder of the instrument have yet been found. Only on the lid of the airbox is the year 1686 engraved and the organ register states that the instrument was built after the completion of the church in 1692. It was originally a 5 register positive without pedal.

In 1881 the instrument was radically rebuilt by Jan Severa from Nový Bydžov. He added a new playing table, which he moved to the railing of the choir, replaced almost the entire pipe fund, added a pedal machine with two registers and rebuilt the entire prospectus part. Of the original instrument, only the manual air horn, some of the wooden pipe material and fragments of gilded carvings remain.

However, the reconstruction did not last long, as evidenced by the entry from the organ register from 1917, which states that ” the whole machine is in a very fragile state”. In 1928 the instrument was repaired by Karel Ryglevič from Hradec Králové and the layout was “improved” by the addition of the Aeolina 8′ register. After that the instrument had this disposition:

Principal 8´, Bourdun 8´, Aeolina 8´, Octava, 4´, Flute 4´, Subbas 16´, Octavbas 8´

The instrument had been in a state of disrepair for the last few decades and the wooden parts were heavily infested with woodworm. In addition, the non-original (and very unattractive) prospectus superstructure was in danger of total collapse. Since further partial repairs would not solve much, a solution was needed that made sense from a user and historical point of view. Therefore, after consultation with the organ builder Vít Mišoně from Mladé Buky, the so-called restoration reconstruction option was chosen, the purpose of which was at least a partial return to the original design and sound concept of the instrument. The work was carried out in stages between 2011 and 2017, and the result is a sonically and artistically interesting instrument.

As part of the reconstruction, all non-original accessories were removed and the built-in gaming table including the tractor was restored. According to the preserved traces on the airshaft, the original layout and the prospectus part of the organ case were probably reconstructed. The non-original air system was replaced with a new wedge bellows to which a new fan was attached. The untempered Werckmeister III tuning contributes to the overall successful sound of the instrument. Of the modern modifications, only the pedal machine has been retained to provide the instrument with the necessary foundation.
